Celebrated pianist Alon Goldstein, a Glacier Symphony audience favorite, will be returning as soloist during the dramatic Opening Weekend performances of Emperor & Titan: Mahler 1These concerts will usher in Season 43: Illuminating the Beyond. The electrifying repertoire of the entire season will encompass more of Mahler’s masterworks; well-known soundtracks from John Williams; awe-inspiring guest artists such as Anna Shelest and Sheng Cai; and breathtaking dance and theater productions of “The Nutcracker” with San Diego Ballet and “West Side Story” with Alpine Theatre Project, both highlighting local performers in the Flathead Valley.

The opening concert entitled Emperor & Titan: Mahler 1 will feature two powerful and popular works: Beethoven’s thrilling Piano Concerto No. 5 in Eb known as “Emperor,” and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D, nicknamed “Titan.” The program also includes Grammy Award-winning composer Jessie Montgomery’s Hymn for Everyone, a piece composed during the spring of 2021 as a reflection on the challenging times of the pandemic. The featured artist of the night is virtuosic pianist Alon Goldstein, who returns to the stage ready to kick off the symphony’s season with artistry and panache.
