SUMMARY:FAMILY CONCERT: ADVENTURES THROUGH MELODY
DESCRIPTION:Family Concerts are a perfect introduction to classical music for children and a delightful journey for adults. Each year\, the Bozeman Symphony offers a free concert for the community\, and both performances generally sell out\, serving more than 2\,000 people. Family Concerts are designed to create lifelong music lovers and inspire concertgoers of all ages to pick up an instrument. \nThe 2024 performances of Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf on January 20 featured narration by acclaimed actor Glenn Close and Montana Shakespeare in the Parks Executive Artistic Director Kevin Asselin\, as well as an instrument petting zoo where children could see\, touch\, hear\, and play symphony orchestra instruments.

DESCRIPTION:Water is the theme for our February concert! \nButte native son William Cook gives us his ‘Blacktail Creek’ tone poem in our series of new commissioned music. Expanding on our aquatic theme\, we add Handel’s ‘Suite of Watermusic’\, Ferde Grofé’s wonderful ‘The Mississippi Suite’\, and a silent film with the orchestra playing for favorite Buster Keaton in “The Boat”.

SUMMARY:SCHEHERAZADE WITH WORLD MUSIC TRIO LES ARRIVANTS
DESCRIPTION:On February 22nd and 23rd the Glacier Symphony presents Scheherazade\, one of the world’s most beloved orchestral works by Rimsky-Korsakov. This exciting and dynamic work has dazzled audiences since its premiere in 1888\, remaining on the “top of the charts” of today’s classical music world! Inspired by Tales of One Thousand and One Nights\, Scheherazade tells the musical tale of episodes depicting Sinbad\, Prince Kalandar\, the Festival in Bagdad and more! Also on the program will be the world premiere of orchestral works music featuring the world music trio Les Arrivants\, from Montreal\, performing their unique and audience pleasing fusion of Persian\, Arabic and Tango Music with grand orchestral accompaniment. \nLes Arrivants Trio (bandonion\, oud\, and percussion) will debut six new works for trio and orchestra\, blending Persian\, Arabic\, and Argentine Tango influences with vibrant symphonic textures. Titles include: Home\, Shaymaa’s Dance\, Gifts of Light\, Ad Matai\, Bagelissimo (Mile-End Tango)\, and Burkaan (Volcano)—composed specifically for this performance. \nDon’t miss this unique blend of new and timeless music\, perfect for any music lover!
